BX2 Continuous Archive
16 camera, high performance digital multiplex recorder

The BX2 is a high-performance 16-camera digital multiplex recorder capable of 100pps (PAL) record rate or 120(PPS) NTSC. The advanced record schedule allows the user to individually programme each camera record priority giving greater flexibility to either assign a higher record rate to specific cameras on alarm, or configure cameras in high sensitivity areas to record more frequently.

Standard units contain 4 hard-drives providing up to 1.2TB storage, or four months high quality, continuous digital recording*. A high reliability Continuous Archive unit is also available that provides RAID 1 fault-tolerance to disk failure. Where more than four months storage is required, the Continuous Archive unit allows archive disks to be hot-swapped without affecting recording, enabling continuous archiving for as long as the application demands. All hard disk recording has a digital signature applied for evidential purposes, and is accessible to the user at the touch of one button or via powerful GOTO and event preview facilities. Images can be copied to the internal CD-R for play back on a PC.

BX2 provides the ideal platform for digital system integration. Built-in network video transmission, including bandwidth limitation offers matrix-style multiple user network viewing and control. The remote keyboard can be used to control up to 256 cameras, with an integral multi-directional joystick delivering swift, seamless control of leading manufacturer’s domes.

• Alarm
• Activity
• Camera fail
Also power up, global alarm, panic alarm or date change
E-mail contains - JPEG picture of camera image on first alarm (optional), machine I.D., camera number, alarm number, time and link to network viewer. Access to mail server is required via Ethernet or dial-up PPP for this feature.

IR REMOTE CONTROL

• The ability to change cameras and camera views
• Search using the GOTO function and review of the event list
• Playback of images from the hard disk
AUDIO
The user has the option to record and play back a single channel of audio in real time. Recorded with images from camera one, audio can be played back directly from the unit via powered external speakers.
Recorded audio is automatically copied when images from camera 1 are archived to CD-R or exported across a network.
Connections:
Mic in: 3.5mm jack socket (requires an electret / condensor microphone with a sensitivity of –50dBV or better)
Line in: 47KΩ input impedance, 1V pk-pk, RCA phono socket
Line out: 1V pk-pk, RCA phono socket

VIDEO MOTION SEARCH FACILITY
Allows the user to search through the units hard-disk recordings for movement in a particular area of the image. The unit is then able to search back through the hard-drive and create a list of activities for the user to view and archive as required. Searching can also be filtered to limit the search to user-defined times and dates.

RECORDING
Playback and record to hard disk simultaneously
Hard disk sizes are rapidly increasing in capacity. Please contact customer services or DM web site, for latest available disk size configurations for BX2.
At time of press the maximum internal storage for standard BX2 is 1.2TB, providing 4 months of digital recordings at a factory default setting of 6PPS with 18KB file size. The maximum internal storage for Continuous Archive BX2 is 1.2TB configured as 600GB of RAID1 protected storage, providing 2 months of digital recordings at default settings.
Event partition:
Separate area on disk can be defined to extend the storage time of alarms and events.
The event partition area in Gigabytes (GB) is configured by the installer and overwrites itself when full.
The system can be configured to protect images permanently from being overwritten when the global alarm is activated. The end user can also manually configure sections of recorded images to be permanently protected from overwrite, and remove permanent protection.

EXTERNAL RAID DEVICES
We recommend that only DM approved external RAID devices should be used with the BX2 range
Please contact Technical Support in your region for further information on recommended devices or visit the web site at www.dedicatedmicros.com/support

TIMED EXPIRY
• Timed expiry option allows images to be held for a selected number of days.
• Images on the disk which are older than the number of days selected are not accessed.

EVENT COPYING
Images, event sequences, audio from camera 1 and user defined recorded sequences can be saved to the units internal CD-R. The CD containing video sequences and the images themselves are digitally signed for authentication purposes. Playback of images from the CD is via a standard CD ROM drive. The CD playback software will auto-run and does not require the installation of software on the users PC.
DIGITAL SIGNATURE
The use of digital signatures makes it possible to detect whether single image or a sequence of images has been tampered with.

NETWORK CAPABILITIES
A standard Ethernet connection provides live and recorded viewing on a networked PC using DM’s Network Viewer software or via web pages using a standard internet browser. Network viewing is independent and does not affect the recording or local operation. The BX2 includes a network bandwidth limitation option, which allows the
bandwidth used by the BX2 to be reduced.
Network Viewer software features include:
• Live full, quad, 6, 9 and 16 way screens
• VCR style fast forward and rewind, playback and frame advance/rew
• GOTO time and date and unique quadrant event review
• File export of digitally signed images over the network to the user’s PC using Network Viewer software.
• Archived images can be viewed using DM’s PC playback software, supplied with the product and as a free download from the DM website (PC Playback operates on PC’s installed with Windows 95 and above)
• Copy single images as JPEG and sequence of images as AVI to save to PC
• Telemetry control, including PTZ and telemetry presets
• Multiple user access
• Configurable password protection
• Event log

Web pages features include:
• Viewing of live images in full screen and quad format including telemetry control
• Playback (full screen only) including GOTO function
• Password authentication.
Web pages are also compatible with Mac and Linux Netscape browsers version 4.7x

NETWORK REMOTE SUPPORT

Enables system adjustments to be made remotely over the network. One user may connect to the unit in a password protected admin mode, that allows access to the menus as they appear on the unit themselves. System adjustments can then be made remotely over the network, such as change the record rate, set up the activity grid,
program presets and more – without the need for a site visit.
