| Simply assign an IP address using ARP/PING, BOOTP or AXIS Utilities. Access and configure the product using a standard Web browser. Optionally install a COM port redirector software for use with a personal computer client.
System Requirements
The AXIS 2490 uses the standard Internet TCP/IP suite of protocols and can be used with most operating systems: Windows 95/98, Windows NT/2000, Linux, UNIX, Mac, and several others. The only software needed is Internet Explorer 4.x or Netscape Navigator 4.x for configuration and an application supporting TCP/IP or a COM port redirector
Additional Software
Optionally install commercially available COM port redirector software on your workstation and create a virtual RS232 port that sits anywhere on your network. A COM port
redirector allows existing Windows software to access networked attached serial devices. You can download Axis unsupported Virtual COM Port Driver software for Windows NT, 95, 98 and 2000 free of charge from our Website at: www.axis.com
The AXIS IP Installer, used to assign IPaddresses, is also available from our Website.
Supported Protocols
ARP, BOOTP, TCP, IP, HTTP, ICMP, FTP, and DNS. Raw TCP/IP connections for communication with the attached serial devices. Telnet options can also be enabled for
COM port control according to RFC2217. HTTP can be used to communicate with those serial devices that support it.
Configuration and Management
Product configuration and status monitoring using a standard Web browser; such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x or Netscape 4.x. Includes FTP support for uploading and/or downloading product configuration files.
